Instrument Introduction

Plant water potential analyzer is an analytical instrument used to determine the water status and composition of plants, as well as to analyze the components of sap from woody vessels. This instrument can be used to study the water relationship of plants and the relationship between plants and the environment. The HM-ZSS plant water potential analyzer is suitable for research in plant physiology, ecology, agriculture, forestry, and forage. Based on this, it is an important instrument for agricultural and forestry teaching and scientific research to guide the rational use of water and drought resistant breeding of crops and forests

This instrument is easy to operate, fast to detect, and suitable for indoor, outdoor, and field measurements.

Instrument measurement principle:

In the continuous system of soil plant atmosphere, the roots and stems of plants continuously absorb water from the soil, while the leaves continuously evaporate and lose water to the surrounding environment. In this gradient system of water potential, there must also be a water potential gradient relationship between the roots stem leaves of plants, which causes the small water columns in the wooden conduits to be affected by the negative pressure of low water potential in the air, forming a pulling force for upward transportation of water. When plant branches or leaves are cut, the taut water column in the conduit breaks, and the water column shrinks inward from the incision towards the upper end. Load the cut material into the pressure chamber of the instrument (see the operating procedure in the next chapter), extend one end of the incision to the outside and seal it, then apply pressure to rebalance the tension inside the branches or leaves, and push the small water column back exactly to the surface of the incision. At this time, the water droplet detection probe automatically detects the leakage of water droplets and automatically locks the measurement data. The pressure value displayed by the instrument is the current water potential value of the plant.
