Instrument Introduction
The strength of plant stems is a major factor determining the lodging resistance of crops. For a long time, lodging of corn, sorghum, tobacco, and other crops has caused great difficulties in mechanical harvesting. In terms of mechanization level, it causes a large amount of food waste. In addition, crop lodging leads to insufficient light, greatly limiting its production. Conducting in vivo measurements of crop stems at various stages of growth, and then statistically processing population measurement data based on the correlation between stem fiber layer bending resistance and lodging resistance, is of great significance for crop cultivation and breeding. The plant stem strength meter uses a tensile and compressive sensor to measure the maximum force generated at the moment of stem fracture or yield, that is, the strength of the stem, through needle punching, crushing, and breaking
